Historic Snohomish

As the oldest city in Snohomish County, the city of Snohomish has an old-time feel that is hard to beat. The city's historic district features beautifully restored houses straight out of the 1800s and wide, tree-lined avenues.
Founded in the 1860s by E.C. Ferguson and E.F. Cady, Snohomish, first named Cadyville, was quickly changed to Snohomish City and later shortened. Originally serving as a major trading post for ships that floated up and down the Snoqualmie and Snohomish rivers the City of Snohomish Became a busy logging, milling and farming community.

Snohomish was the county seat until the upstart metropolis of Everett wrestled the title away in 1897. The city was officially incorporated in 1890.
